About Your Hunt

A hunt with Southern Mountain Adventures is about a total vacation package - enjoying some of the most stunning, un-spoilt scenery in the world, exploring the South Islands rugged high country and taking home that ultimate souvenir, your trophy animal.

The hunt begins with your arrival at the airport where Croc will meet you and head to the family home in Lake Wanaka or drive or fly straight to Glen Lyon. Everything from ammunition and rifles to food and accommodation will be supplied and is organized by Croc prior to your arrival in Queenstown. You are welcome to bring your own rifle - simply visit www.police.govt.nz/service/firearms/ for information. The airport police are very helpful and you can buy a firearm permit from them for $25 once you arrive in New Zealand.

The Glen Lyon station offers the ability to hunt a wide range of trophy animals during your hunt . With Crocs exclusive access to thousands of acres of private land the options are endless and huts and hunting areas are reached by either helicopter or 4WD. There is also a 1000 acre Stag and Tahr hunting park for anyone who chooses not to walk right up into the hills.

Crocs years of  successful hunts in the high country and the wider South Island make for excellent knowledge of the area, it’s animals, terrain and weather  - all of which he is happy to share with you on the trip.

Accommodation and transport options are all flexible and are customized to each hunters requirements.

For any non hunting family members or friends who wish to accompany hunters on the trip the Glen Lyon station, nearby lake and river provide an unforgettable setting for tramping, photography, painting or just relaxing. They are also welcome to join you and Croc on the hunt each day.
